Booking Hotels With Membership Rewards

We recommend you avoid using your Membership Rewards to pay for hotels on theAmerican Express travel portal. For a variety of locations and price rangesthat we tested, the redemption value of hotel nights was significantly lowerthan 1 cent per point. For example, booking the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel inCharlotte, N.C. will net a value of 0.7 cent per point. It’s best to redeemrewards for no less than 1 cent per point when possible.
Hotel redemptions on the Amex travel portal have poor value.
